Prostate Seed Implantation Technique  

The first step is to perform an ultrasound mapping of the gland to calculate the number, strength and location of the seeds. Go to:  ultrasound mapping

At the time of the implant the ultrasound device is reinserted, which has a metal grid that is used to line up the needles and a spacing of 5mm apart. Go to:   grid and needles

Typically 15- to 20 needles are used with an average of 60 to 110 seeds based on the size of the gland and the dose required, go to: seeds are then implanted
